Subject: almost the best
i would like to give the film a four star for its good plot. It could have got a higher rating unfortunately of the video quality. My concern is that the mpeg2 version is shorter than the mpeg 4 which is the 1.4 GB and it also has a better quality than the mpeg2. I hope that someone can upload a better and complete version of the film that has the "Sun Ray Films" intro in an mpeg2 or a DVD version ISO

This movie is fine except one thing: the plot. Why are we taken to a sanitarium? It's not convincing.

Huh? It's over and I don't know what happened, but for some reason, I feel I enjoyed it.

Subject: Comedy
Lunatics everywhere, even in the screenwriting and directing departement. Not to forget the actors, always over the top, always using the body language they learned to do in the silent movie days.

All in all: a watchable film (maybe only once) as a comedy

This is what the Internet Archive is all about. For a 1931 film, it plays very, very well in the technical department. There are only a very few seconds at the beginning that are photo-charoschoro.

Otherwise and all ways, this is the best 1931 film I have seen here, and I have seen them all.

The maid is great, by the way.

This will be downloaded thousands of times. Nice.

A fine film, a significant contribution.

Subject: Only An Hour Long!
The Phantom makes a daring daylight escape from prison on the day set for his execution, and it's clearly coordinated with at least one person on the outside. The DA receives a telegram the same day apparently from The Phantom saying he'll be at the DA's home half past midnight. The story takes a completely different direction than I expected from these facts.

Many of the usual 'Old House Mystery' trappings and plot devices are used without much effect. The comedy provided was the best part, and it wasn't very good. The acting seemed subpar to me, as did the directing. This isn't the worst of the Old House Mysteries at IA.

The movie starts with a commercial for Sunray Films, Inc. of Cleveland, OH pushing their 8mm and 16mm supplies, but it's less than 20 seconds long.

I downloaded the 1.4GB MPEG4 file. Video quality was fine, though it showed its age. Audio had the usual hiss often heard in these old films, but it was never a problem. Dialog was easy to hear.
